And Then One Fine Morning
. . .believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter—tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . .
Look carefully at what's written on this sign.

The housing situation

I just talked to the woman whose room I was interested in renting after my dorm contract runs out. She seems nice enough, but I don't think it's going to work out. For one, she's a grad student working two jobs and is twice my age, and her boyfriend is the same age as my dad (I find that just a little bit creepy). Second, there's no TV or internet. I can live without the TV, but I don't think I can do without the internet. Third, the entire house (including what would be my room) is furnished in antique oak furniture that's been in her family for generations. I have nothing against antique oak furniture, but I want some things to be mine, that I picked out and that if I ruin it won't be the end of the world. The whole conversation gave off a kind of "old people" vibe. I already feel unwelcome. I'd rather be someone's roommate than just another renter. So, since I'm probably not going to end up living with this woman, who wants to go in together on a house? April and I were already talking about this, and I'd much rather live with a couple of my friends than a woman who I think will look down on me and judge me.
